Welcome to Prague
20 - 23 June 2012
Dear Friends and Colleagues
We are pleased to invite you, on behalf of the Organization Committee of the European Pancreatic Club meeting, to Prague.
Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, played host to a congress of the European Pancreatic Club as early as 1968, and the Czech pancreatologist Prof. Dr. Karel Herfort, was one of the Club's founding fathers.
It is the intention of current representatives of Czech pancreatology to carry on this tradition, and to organize an event which will feature an informative and stimulating scientific program combined with an attractive social program allowing the participants (and accompanying persons) to explore the beauty of Prague and its environs.
Prague is a gem among European cities, and a place where many decisions were taken throughout its history, which had their reverberations across Europe. Prague is the seat of one of the oldest European universities, founded by King Charles the IV, a city boasting countless architectural landmarks, a of city of culture, and a city serving as the venue of major international meetings of politicians, artists, not excepting physicians.
Prague is often referred to as the heart of Europe, suggesting- among other things-the fact it is within easy reach from all parts of Europe and the world. Prague is listed among the destinations of a number of major international air carriers, but the city is readily accessible by rail or road.
Prague's numerous hotels offer to the visitor five-star accommodation as well as high-quality, yet less expensive lodging.
Travel across Prague is fast, easy and safe thanks to its network of underground lines (called "metro") connecting city center with all parts of the city.
Dear colleagues, we hope you will accept our invitation to join us in Prague at the European Pancreatic Club.
We will be pleased to be able to meet you, and will make every effort to make your visit to Prague a memorable one.
Prof. Petr Dítě, MD, DSc.
President of the European Pancreatic Club and of the 44th Meeting of EPC
